My name is Miguel Oliveira and my friends call me Mimas. I am currently based in Denmark and I love producing music in my spare time. I have been having fun with it since around 2005 when I used to make remixes and bootlegs of old-school Funk & Disco grooves. These days I compose original tracks by using all my instruments at home, in the best bedroom-studio ever!
I get inspired by a wide range of music genres. My evolution into the beats and funk/electric boogie I focus on these days has come from listening to the Funk and R&B from the 70’s, Disco from the 80’s, the 90’s hip-hop, neo-soul & pop, and the electronic, nu-funk, and modern-boogie from the recent years.
I used to produce radio as well. 'Morning Lemon' was a radio show broadcasted for more than a year at Aalborg Student Radio, transmitted both FM and on the Internet. The show aired on Fridays, and included a great compilation of funky tracks, announcements, news, and many curiosities to make Students' Friday morning superb. I used to develop radio reportages, exclusive artist interviews, and jingles production in the name of Aalborg Student Radio.
In 2015 I have established a radio podcast called 'ReggaeMic' whereby we managed to interview world-famous artists within the Reggae genre, together with my crime-rider Manuca Selectah.
The music creation process is something that I am passionate about. It is somewhat magical, in my opinion, to be able to make music and to listen to it. I tend to particularly enjoy the creative stages of my music production, and I work every day to become better at finishing my tracks and sharing them with the world.
In the last decade I have unofficially released about 10 bootlegs and edits, with a focus on the American R&B duo McFadden and Whitehead’s “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” which became a hit edit on SoundCloud in 2013.
Since then I have also published two bootleg albums: MMPS, in 2016 and GRENEN in 2017 in collaboration with Danish rappers. The single “Another Nu Funky Mimas” was released in 2018 and “Giga Funky Stuff” the only song published in mid-2020. Starting the year in 2021, I have released several videos (you can find them on Instagram and Youtube) as well as another song called “Jamming Afternoon Like This”, which is an energetic and dynamic number, characterized by a strong synth bass as well as a warm and full chorus composed by synths and piano riffs. 2025 was marked by the release of the latest single " wave " featuring a video clip on Youtube recorded and edited by myself when I was in Poland on vacation.
